German hockey women won their second game against Australia in the FIH Pro League. A 2-1 penalty shoot-out win in Sydney was their fourth win at the World Cup.
Hamburg’s Anne Schroeder scored the winning goal as the seventh shooter. The win moved Germany to second place in the World League.
At 3:3 (1:2) in regular time, Cecil Piper (8th minute), Jed Fleschutz (46th minute) and Sarah Strauss (57th minute) equalized the lead. “We’re proud that we kept coming back and got the extra point at the end,” Fleschütz said.
DHB exam on Tuesday beat China. Kira Horn (49th), Charlotte Stabenhorst (53rd) and Nike Lorenz (54th) scored in the final quarter to make it 3-0 (0-0). “Our goal is to play defensively, defend well and then play freely offensively,” Horn said.
The world number four already won 2-1 against China and lost 0-3 against Australia at the weekend.
