Munich: Ritschard sniffs surprise, Hüsler’s game is off

Alexandre Richard (ATP 209) missed another upset at the ATP 250 Championships in Munich against Marcus Giron (USA/ATP 68). Everything went perfectly for Richard for 55 minutes. He took the first set and immediately started the second round with a break. But then Zurich lost the thread. He was unsuccessful in three of the next five service games, eventually leading to a 6:4, 3:6, 3:6 defeat after more than two hours. After all, Ritschard won a set for the first time in his third round of 16 on the ATP Tour.

The last 16 of Munich’s Swiss second Marc-Andrea Haussler (ATP 63) was canceled due to darkness and will not be played until Friday. The 26-year-old is leading 7:5, 3:3 against former top player Dominic Thiem (AUT/ATP 101), who is still looking for form after a long injury.
