Schmidger with his fifth European Cup win

Reto Schmidger won the European Cup slalom in Obergen in South Tyrol by 48 hundredths of a margin over teammate Matthias Itten. For the 31-year-old Schmidiger, who is currently no longer part of the Swiss ski team, this is the fifth European Cup victory. The last time the man from Nidwalden won was in Zakopane (POL) in February. The three-time world junior champion has been repeatedly set back by injuries. Schmidiger has started 87 World Cup races, the last of which was in March 2022 in Flachau. For the 24-year-old Itten, it was his first European Cup podium finish.
