New Business Class Dining: Austrian Airlines offers more Austria services

Lufthansa and Swiss already rely on regional specialties on board. Austrian now makes more Austrian food.

The group’s sisters showed the way: After “Tasty Swiss” at Swiss and “Taste Heimat” in Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines now introduces more local food colours: “Tastyly Austria” is the name of the new culinary concept, now available in Business Class on Short and medium-range routes, such as the electronic gate Frankfurt Bulletin first mentioned.

Together with its partner Do & Co, the Austrian has created menus serving international cuisine on departure from Vienna and Austrian delicacies on the way back. On longer flights of three hours or more, you can look forward to a two-course meal – for example with the Wiener Tafelspitz or the traditional Schlutzkrapfen, a regional specialty from Tyrol. The menu is rounded off with apple pie, for example.

On flights of 80 minutes to three hours there is also a warm meal – such as beef or salmon fillet, on shorter flights of 50 to 80 minutes cold meals – for example with a poke bowl or pork leg. Very original and original ways are the very short ones up to 50 minutes: here, “handmade pastries” are distributed – a snack that you can also take with you thanks to special packages.

The whole group is also planning a quality attack. This was announced by Lufthansa President Carsten Spohr on Thursday (4 August) when the quarterly figures were presented. Recently, their demands and the demands of the guests in some cases have not been met. The airline group wants to change that. Not just in business degree.

31,000 new seats

To that end, a “large-scale product and quality initiative” will be launched in the fall, Spohr announced. The CEO didn’t initially reveal any details – except for one thing. The initiative will lead to renewed seats in all classes at Lufthansa and Swiss from 2023.
