Microsoft publishes requirements for Copilot

June 29, 2023 –
Microsoft has announced the requirements that IT administrators must consider to use Copilot in the company. Microsoft 365 license is primary for this.

Microsoft has requirements for using Copilot in a blog post Communicates. As mentioned, potential Copilot users must have a Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 license and an Azure Active Directory account that gives them access to Copilot-enabled Microsoft 365 apps and services. These include Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Onedrive, and Loop. Also, users must be in the existing channel or the monthly enterprise channel for Microsoft 365 Apps.

The tech giant also recommends aligning the corporate network with Microsoft 365 network connectivity principles. This helps provide the best use of Copilot by minimizing latency and increasing network quality for critical network flows. Some Copilot experiences also require a connection to a web socket from the device running the corresponding Microsoft 365 app to the Microsoft service. Therefore, websockets must be shared from user endpoints. Finally, to use AI services across apps in Teams, plugins must be enabled in the Teams admin center. (adk)
