Wrapping can give a car a new shine – if done well. Something clearly went wrong with the Porsche Cayenne.

Opinions differ when it comes to designing a car’s appearance: for some, a car should always be as original as possible, while others like to sharpen it. There’s a wide range when it comes to remodeling the exterior: tinted windows are enough for some – others are a significant change. The result can be quite adventurous, like turning a Mercedes CLK into a hot rod or a Volkswagen Jetta with “dumbo” exterior mirrors. If you “just” want to change the color of your car, you don’t have to go straight to the paint: Foil can also work – for example, rapper Shirin David’s G-Class got a pink cover. However, it is important to know what you are doing. Something clearly went wrong in disappointing the Porsche.

Reddit Post User Amuses: “I Left My Porsche Unwrapped To A Friend”

A user posted pictures of a first-generation Porsche Cayenne (built 2002) on Reddit. The title, which is not meant to be taken seriously, is “Let a friend roll my Porsche”. The caption reads, “The more you zoom in, the worse it looks.” However, as the uploader acknowledges in the comments, it’s not his own car.

Holes, gaps, and creases: Porsche’s frustration in disastrous condition

At first glance, one might think that the Porsche Cayenne had an impromptu repair done with duct tape. But then it turned out that the entire SUV was covered with red paper – or was. In some places the film is completely separated, in others it is peeled off or has severe wrinkles. It is unclear if clumsy foil wrapping worked here or if unsuitable foil was used for this. However, it is undisputed that the Porsche looks much better in the original beige color that can be seen under the foil.
