German League: Stuttgart wins over Darmstadt

Stuttgart continues to rise. The Swabians celebrated their fourth win in Friday’s Bundesliga fifth-round match with a 3-1 win over Darmstadt and moved to the top of the table, at least for one night. Even an unfortunate own goal by centre-back Dan-Axel Zagado did not derail coach Sebastian Hoeneß’s surprising side. Enzo Milot and double goalscorer Serho Geraci turned the game around. For Geraci, it was goals 9 and 10. Only Robert Lewandowski (2020) has made it through the first five rounds in Bundesliga history as the 27-year-old Guinean national striker.

French League: Monaco loses strangely

Monaco had to surrender their lead in the French league in the sixth round. The team, which included Swiss goalkeeper Philipp Kuhn and national player Denis Zakaria, lost 0-1 to new leader Nice (with Jordan Lutomba) in a very unfortunate manner. Jeremy Boga defeated a weak Kone after a counter-attack in the 91st minute. Monaco striker Folarin Balogun had previously missed twice from the penalty spot against Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka.
