Lilibet’s birthday: Harry refuses a gift from Charles

Did Prince Harry steal his daughter’s very special birthday present? Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor celebrated her second birthday on June 4th. King Charles wanted to give his granddaughter something very special for her big day, an insider told the British Mirror. However, Prince Harry frustrated royal gift planning.

Charles should not give his granddaughter anything “extravagant”.

The source explained, according to The Mirror, that Charles “has been scouting his aides for custom-made cottages similar to those the Queen and Princess Margaret had when they were girls.” The King wants to give Lilibet something that she can use and that is all that belongs to her. “You’ll always remember her — she’ll be the ultimate surprise,” the source continues.

Prince Harry reportedly rejected his father’s plans. The Duke of Sussex is said to have advised the monarch to buy him a “less extravagant” gift, according to OK! It is unclear whether Charles complied with his second son’s request. So far there have been pictures of Lilibet in her little home.

6,000 euros as a second birthday present

However, Lilibet didn’t have to do without luxury entirely. Her mother, Megan, gave her daughter a watch that cost about 6,000 euros. What makes it so special is that the watch has existed long before Lilibet was even born. Megan bought the Cartier Tank Francaise watch after “Go” for the third season of her “Suits” series, with the inscription “From MM to MM” on the back. In an interview from 2015, according to the Mirror, Meghan actually talked about giving the watch to her daughter one day.

No birthday wishes for Lilibet

The royal family’s Twitter accounts remained quiet on Lilibet’s birthday. Last year, Queen Elizabeth sent congratulations to her granddaughter via Twitter. That’s because they “don’t celebrate the birthdays of the non-working members,” an insider told the Mirror, “They wish Lilibet a happy birthday, of course, but nothing will be posted on any channel.”
