Joel Girrbach showed very good golf in the first round.
Gerbach’s deficit in front of the first group players is not great.
The most prestigious Swiss championship on the European circuit has not yet been the Gerbach tea cup. In five entries between 2012 and 2019, he was eliminated on Friday evening after the second round. The 104th place in 2019 was Gerbach’s best ranking.
This is in sharp contrast to current performance. Gerbach played five birds in three losses. However, it was a pesky double bogey, which caught him on hole 14 isn’t hard, on par 5.
Friborgos isn’t great yet
Jeremy Freiburgos, currently the best Swiss professional, is not past the round of 71 at the moment. Bonaduz’s Bündner, who has the best chances of moving to the big European circuit this season, will have to improve by two, maybe three strokes on Friday in order to advance to the final two rounds of the weekend.
Spaniard Alejandro Canizares and South African Thurston Lawrence top the rankings after rounds of 62. Last year’s Danish winner, Rasmus Hoggard, put himself in a good position three strokes behind him. (SDA)
