After the dismissal and fan protests: the managing director leaves FCZ
Many departures from the Zurich club office and the banners in the South Bend: Nick Gast has been polarizing since taking office. Now it is replaced.
Change in management at FC Zurich: After two and a half years of turmoil, Chief Operating Officer Nick Gast is closing the FCZ branch with immediate effect. In 2021, Gast took up his position at the City Club, and last winter several voluntary departures from the office – including long-term staff – caused a lot of excitement. The new managing director and his treatment of staff has been repeatedly cited as the reason. At that time, President Ancilo Canepa did not deny to the editorial team that the new director's relationship with some of his subordinates was not easy. Gast himself did not want to comment on the events.
The fans also expressed their dissatisfaction with the guest, expressing it with banners, flyers and in a letter to the club. And in the team's home match against St. Gallen in the fall, the message from the South Bend was unmistakably black and white: “Nick Gast: Ziit zum Usenandgah!” Written in letters on the South Curve banner. Once again the president and his wife, Helene Canepa, clearly stood behind their managing director: “We fully support Nick Gast and are very satisfied with his work.”
From now on, someone else will do the work: Gast has decided to take on a new challenge outside the sport, FCZ announced on Wednesday evening. Roger Herzog is the new managing director. The 51-year-old economic auditor and business expert comes to the city club from real estate company Allreal.
