Ranchi. Germany's women's hockey team won the Olympic qualifiers.
After successfully qualifying for the Olympics, Germany's women's hockey team also won the qualifiers in India.
Coach Valentin Altenburg's team beat the USA 2-0 in the final. Jed Fleschutz and Sonja Zimmerman scored for DHB. Besides Germany and the United States, Japan also qualified for this summer's tournament in Paris.
National coach Valentin Altenburg was more than satisfied with his team's performance in the sometimes adverse conditions and the tournament which saw them beat India early to qualify for the Olympics. “The game gave us a lot for our future. Not just the quality of the Indians but also the 15,000 absolutely crazy people who pushed their team forward,” said the coach.
“This team didn't let themselves be bothered and always gave the next move a chance to succeed,” Aldenburg said. Her selection has big plans for the Olympic year. “We want to continue working as a team that wins big games,” the 42-year-old said.
