Graubünden cross country skier Luca Tavasky missed 10th place in his third race at the Paralympics.

Tavasky finished the 12.5 km ski race in the standing class in thirteenth place. The 28-year-old was 1:22 minutes short of the top 10. He was “very satisfied” with his performance: “I kept my pace, even though it was getting harder and deeper.”

The man from Graubünden was aware of the challenge: he prefers to run the classic way. In addition, the race was well attended. “The field is much denser than it was in Pyeongchang four years ago. There are world-class runners to begin with,” Tavasky said.

Engadin finished his second Paralympic Games with ranks 11 (long distance), 16 (sprint) and 13 (medium distance). “Compared to the other races this season, I’ve been able to cut the time difference to the top,” Tavasky said happily.

Hitchcock’s Gold Final

China’s Wang Qinyang won the gold in his class, but saved just 1.2 seconds over Benjamin Davitt of France. Bronze went to another sports host, Kai Jiayun.
