Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban facelift

The 5.3- and 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engines (360 and 425 hp) remain, although the larger eight-cylinder engine is only available in higher equipment lines. But what’s new is the diesel engine. The Duramax’s three-liter six-cylinder diesel engine has been completely revised, including new pistons and an improved turbocharger. This new generation Duramax has already been introduced on the Silverado pickup. Now the diesel engine, whose power has increased from 281 to 309 hp, joins the SUV family. The turbo diesel engine has a torque of 671 Nm.

The front design takes the features of the previous model, but the LED lighting is stronger and more dominant than before. As is usual at Chevrolet, different shapes of the radiator grille are used depending on the equipment, but it has been changed from the previous design with cross braces to different honeycomb patterns. At the rear, as is usual with facelifts, the lower apron has been reshaped and the taillights given a new inset design.

Inside it towards the upper layer

The renovation work inside is more extensive. In particular, the compact multimedia system of the current Suburban and Tahoe models no longer suits the times, and much has been improved here. The central display now has a large diagonal of 17.7 inches and complements the fully digital instrument display (11 inches). Although both displays are not integrated into a single housing, they interlock and create a uniform surface.

As part of this digitization, the dashboard will be completely redesigned, the position of the fan vents and individual controls will be changed, and the center console will be reworked. While the previous interior looked a bit rough with some very large switches and controls, the new cockpit is sleeker and of a higher class.

The assistance systems have also been expanded. On the one hand, with the new “connected camera” equipment, through which sweeping views around the car and inside can be recorded and controlled remotely in the linked smartphone app (see video above). There are also some new assistance programs for trailer pilots, including monitoring the service life of trailer tires or trailer navigation to suggest routes tailored to the size of the trailer.

Soon he will be on the road independently

As an additional assistance system, “Super Cruise” will also be available from 2025, with which the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban can drive autonomously on approximately 640,000 kilometers of suitable roads in the USA and Canada.

The new long-wheelbase Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban will launch in late 2024 as 2025 models. Naturally, there are no prices at this point. The Tahoe currently starts at $54,200 (about 49,600 euros) and the Suburban at $57,200 (about 52,300 euros); Prices range up to $92,480 (equivalent to approximately €84,600) for a fully equipped Chevrolet Suburban High Country – all net prices, as is usual with US information.

As early as November 2023, Chevrolet will announce the update to its giant Tahoe and Suburban SUVs, which won’t go on sale until the end of 2024.
