The 23-year-old finished 11th in Lenzerheide, while Sebastian Stalder performed less well.

Niklas Hartwig achieved the best Swiss result in Lenzerheide. The 23-year-old from Schwyz, who did not start in Hochfilzen due to illness, ran to 11th place in the 10km race. Hartwig could have had a better result, but last season’s Under-25 Athlete of the Year missed his third shot on a standing volley.

“I don’t complain about a single mistake. “I’m very happy because I didn’t expect much,” said Hartwig, who usually allows himself more time to come back after injury. “We were still thinking about how much sense it made to start. Today we showed that it really makes sense.”

A doll that makes Germany cheer again

Hartweg lost 1:12 minutes to today’s winner Benedikt Doll. The 2017 World Sprint Champion achieved all 10 of his goals and, with his success in Lenzerheide, made it the German national’s third win this winter. Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bø and Dole compatriot Filip Neurath, who surprisingly won the race in Östersund, completed the podium with one shooting error each.

Stalder with room for improvement

It was a bit disappointing for Sebastian Stalder, who had his worst result of the winter so far in his home race. After two standing shooting errors and a mediocre performance on the run, the Zurich man could only manage 42nd place.

Joscha Burkhalter finished 35th ahead of Stalder and will be part of the chase on Saturday. On the other hand, Jeremy Fenello made 5 errors on the shooting range and missed the first 60.
