The Oscars ceremony has ended, and the best awards in the world of cinema have been distributed. This also includes the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, which this year went to the Japanese film “Godzilla Minus One.”

In the days before green screens and CGI, filmmakers still had to dig deep into their repertoire of tricks to enrich their films with special effects. This involved a lot of manual work and illusion – for example the use of “forced perspective”. We've collected some examples of old cult movies for you here.
