Alpine skiing: Katja Grossmann hits her hand in a fall

1/4

The beginning of the season falls in the water for Katya Grossman.

Very bad luck for Swiss B Team driver Katja Grossmann (25). She fell while training in Zermatt and broke her hand. “It’s hard again to find the right words in this situation…” she wrote on Instagram for a photo showing her in the rescue helicopter. She broke all of her right metacarpal bones and already had a successful surgery. There are now three boards and 25 nails in your hand.

For Grossman, who has run two World Cup races so far (2021, the two downhill races in Val di Fassa, Italy), this is not the first serious injury. She suffered her first serious knee injury when she was not even 13 years old, which was followed by several tears in her ankle ligaments, other knee injuries and back pain.
