Truck manufacturer Daimler Truck relies on the electric mobility of its American Freightliner brand. As the group announced on Wednesday, the electric version of the Freightliner Cascadia is now entering series production “after more than a million test miles” (which equals well 1.6 million km). The first deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2022.
According to the company, the electric truck has a range of about 230 miles (370 kilometers), depending on the vehicle’s configuration. “eCascadia is ideally suited for short distances, which enables warehouse-based shipping,” explained Daimler Truck, referring to so-called last-mile logistics and local and regional distribution traffic. The truck can thus take the company and its customers “a significant step forward towards CO2 neutral transportation.”
