It was said Thursday evening at “Germany’s Next Top Model”: Pick up a hair! As every year, Heidi Klum, 48, tries to get the best out of her candidates. The biggest change in season 17 was Vanessa (20). But she wasn’t really excited.
Even before her big transformation, Klum declared: “Vanessa has a beautiful face and amazing blue eyes – but with her somewhat sassy look with her long brown hair, she doesn’t really stand out.” That should change quickly. Klum promised: “I’ll put it this way, at the end of the day none of this will apply to Vanessa.”
Vanessa panicked inwardly
At first, most of her hair fell out. If they used to reach the chest, they are now only chin-length. “Of course, the first cut was a little painful — but I didn’t let it show,” Vanessa says. But the length was not enough.

At first, the designers applied a bleaching treatment before they used a bluish-colored paste. “When the color came on, I was so angry. I was just crazy, angry, and humiliated,” reveals Vanessa, who has remained calm on the outside. On the inside was scary. The end result: turquoise hair.
Sarina Novak is excited
When the young model is allowed to show off her new hairstyle to boyfriend Plarent via video chat, she can no longer hold back her tears and let her emotions run free. However, her fears that he might not like her hair seemed unfounded. “It suits you very well,” he praises. He also loves brevity.
While walking into the decision, Vanessa’s initial distaste for the hairstyle was no longer noticeable. She confidently walks the podium and even gets praise for being the best in her group. Then Heidi Klum gets that, too. “I’m sorry this is such a shock to you,” Klum says, adding, “I think you should internalize it first.”
Guest judge Sarina Novak (28) is also excited about the new look. The model raves, “I love your hair. The color suits you so well, the cut and your face are so beautiful.” On the other hand, online opinions vary. While some think the color and cut are great for Vanessa, others feel sorry for her.
