The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating Kanye West (44). According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, the rapper, who has renamed himself Ye, has been charged with aggravated assault for assaulting a fan.
According to Fox 11 TV, West was at a private Soho Warehouse club in downtown Los Angeles after a dinner with his new girlfriend Julia Fox (31), among others. He got out about three in the morning and went to his black SUV, which was in front of the door—when a man asked him for his autograph. According to eyewitnesses, West asked the man and a few other fans not to take pictures of him “because I suffer from a lot that you cannot fathom.”
The victim remains motionless
His answer to that was too much for Kanye West. The man said, “It’s okay, we all have family problems.” West is said to have punched the man first in the neck and then in the head. An eyewitness mobile phone video obtained by TMZ shows the victim falling to the ground and lying there.
The rapper shouted twice, “Did you say that, right?” And then: “Because this just fucking happened!” When a woman in his entourage tried to pacify West, he shouted, “Don’t come near me! Get your hands off me.” She replied, “I am a family.” The woman is said to be one of West’s cousins.
Kanye West could face six months in prison
West and his men set off before the police arrived. According to the police spokesman, “there have been no arrests yet” – but the investigation is ongoing. The victim refused medical help at the scene, but was transported himself to the emergency room. If charged and convicted, the musician could face up to six months in prison. (cth/bsn)
