Two Spurs fans from the United States famously had a trip they should never forget. Because bad luck turned into a great adventure.
Who is a football fan who does not dream of seeing his favorite team live on the field? Not everyone has lost heart in front of a club that is practically on their doorstep.
Football is a global affair and clubs have a growing number of fans around the world. English clubs, for example, have a large number of fans in the United States, who rarely enjoy watching their clubs’ matches live on site – and even less so in the event of a pandemic.
But a couple of Tottenham Hotspur fans wanted to know. Twitter user Tweet embed From Dallas, he kicked off for Tottenham’s away game in Burnley with his partner at the end of November.
himself He summed up his crazy and perhaps not everyday journey as follows: “From Dallas to London to Burnley. 31 hours, sleepless, fueled by coffee, cheese crackers and more coffee. Freezing temperatures and snow are expected for a game. These are the things you do when you love your club.”
Canceling the game makes both fans famous
What he didn’t know at the time: Snow made both celebrities. Because on match day Burnley got hit by a large amount of snow which led to the match being called off despite all attempts to clear the place. What a bitterness to the fans of Texas! But they didn’t even think about letting the weather and conditions spoil their mood and they had a great time with other fellow pubs at a local bar. “This is what football is all about!” One fan wrote on Twitter.
Their misfortune has long been spread across social media. They received numerous letters in which they not only received encouragement, but also offered compensation. Channel 4 video producer Kieron Bryan offered both of them tickets for Tottenham’s next match against Brentford FC. The club’s icon, Mickey Hazard, even named the two of his VIP guests in a get-together with Michael Dawson and Ledley King.
As if these honors weren’t enough Then Harry Kane answered. “I’m really sorry for you! For your commitment and as compensation for the canceled game, I’d like to invite you as guests to a home game the next time you’re in London,” Ken wrote on Twitter.
It was hardly said before the act: they both spent a few more days in London and experienced a time they might never have dreamed of when they left Dallas. They also watched the Tottenham match at home directly in the stadium. Finally on December 6th we came home. In baggage: Priceless memories and some new friendships. These two probably won’t complain about British weather again.
