The audience greeted artist Thomas Gottschalk with great cheers in Nuremberg at “Wetten dass..?” After a ten-year hiatus, he hosted the ZDF cult show for the first time on Saturday.
“I’m really looking forward to the evening and taking my time too,” Gottschalk said, sitting on the famous sofa. 2,500 spectators in the exhibition hall greeted the 71-year-old with warm applause and singing “Oh, what a beauty.”
Shortly before the show started, Gottschalk looked down the hall, joked with the audience and took a few selfies. “I’m from the third generation — vaccinated, tested, and fitted,” he said, and promised, “The show is a certain amount of friendliness.”
Wearing a gold plaid jacket and beside presenter Michael Hunziker, Gottschalk started the show in a good mood. Many prominent sponsors were expected. The guest list includes ABBA stars Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson, Schlager Queen Helen Fischer and rocker Udo Lindenberg.
