With 71:59 the German men won against
World and European champions Great Britain.
German wheelchair basketball players played very aggressively against the British national team in the first three quarters. In the third quarter in particular, the German team managed to expand its leadership.
But in the fourth quarter the German team looked tired at first and their leadership faded. The tension of the Germans was evident on the field, the Germans lost their first game to the United States by a very narrow margin with 55:58. They did not want to experience such a narrow defeat in this game.
After a timeout and a meeting with national coach Nikolai Zeltinger, the German team recovered, especially the player Thomas Boehme, who scored 27 points at the end of the match for the German national team. When the referees whistled the match after a mixed fourth quarter, the German team was ahead.
“We can basically feel good,” sums player Thomas Boehme, “we’ve played a little choppy in the last few minutes, but we’re on the right track.” Tomorrow the German national team will meet a strong Australian team.
