In the new coach’s debut, the German Football Association won the friendly match against the USA in Hartford 3-1 after falling behind. Captain Ilkay Gundogan (39th place), striker Niklas Volkrug (58th place), and young man Jamal Musiala (61st place) turned things around in favor of the European Championship host country, which separated from Hansi Flick a month ago. For the Americans, former Dortmund player Christian Pulisic took the lead in the 27th minute.

Kimmich is sick on his way home again

The Germans, who had already shown an upward trend in the 2-1 win over France under the caretaker trio of sporting director Rudi Föller, Hans Wolff and Sandro Wagner, competed without Joshua Kimmich, who was ill. The Bayern player left the external camp early, which was accompanied by critical tones, and he will also miss the next test against Mexico on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, world champion Mats Hummels celebrated a successful return in the back four after a two-year absence alongside Jonathan Tah, Antonio Rudiger and Robin Gosens.
