At the BRA World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, the Swiss mixed teams achieved 15th and 22nd places in air rifle. On Thursday, shooter Jason Solari stumbled in the playoffs.

A total of 42 mixed air rifle teams competed in Rio de Janeiro on Friday. After a strong start, Chiara Leone (314.3) and Christophe Dürr (312.3) achieved the best result from a Swiss perspective with a score of 626.6 and 15th place. As for the second pair with Barbara Schläpfer (311.4) and Jan Lochbihler (312.5), he was unable to fully exploit his potential and reached 22nd place in the classification. To reach the medal match, 629.6 points were needed at the World Cup in Brazil.

Jason Solari was the first Swiss to participate in the FIFA World Cup held in the Brazilian coastal city of Rio de Janeiro on Thursday. The Ticino native had good air pistol results in the first two series with scores of 97 and 98 before losing touch with the world leaders in the middle division. Despite catching up in the last two series, Solari sits in the middle of the field in 31st place with 572 rings. Emils Wassermanis (LAT) won qualifying with 586 points.
