German footballers know their group's competition at the Olympic Games. In the second match, national coach Horst Hrubesch's team will face the record winners.

German women's football will play in the preliminary round of the Olympic Games in Paris against record winners USA and Australia as well as Zambia and Morocco. This was the result of the draw in Paris.

The choice of outgoing national coach Horst Hrubesch will play his first match on July 25 in Marseille against former World Cup hosts and fourth-placed Australia. Whether Zambia or Morocco will qualify for Germany's preliminary group two will not be decided until April.

The German national team qualified for the Olympics by finishing third in the Nations League. In the second match on July 28 again in Marseille, the USA will be the second opponent. The final group match will be held on July 31 in Saint-Etienne against the African representative.

A tough group caught world champion Spain. In their Olympic debut, the defending champions in Group C will first face former world champions Japan as well as Brazil and the winner of the elimination match between Nigeria and South Africa. Canada, the Tokyo Olympics champion, will face France, New Zealand and Colombia in Group A.

In the men's tournament, France will face host nation the United States in its opening match, 40 years after its 1984 Olympic victory in Los Angeles. The other competitors in Group A are New Zealand and the winner of the knockout match between the representatives of Asia and Africa. Tournament favorites Argentina will face Morocco, Ukraine and an Asian team in Group B, which will be decided at the AFC U-23 Cup in May.

Brazil, the champion of the Tokyo Olympics, did not qualify, like the German team. The German Football Association's U21s team had already been eliminated from the preliminary round of the European Championship, but should have reached the quarter-finals.
