Von Boksburg’s successor: Ashwin Bhatt has become the new head of Lufthansa Cargo

Dorothea von Boksberg, Head of Lufthansa Cargo, is moving to Brussels Airlines. Its successor in Lufthansa’s freight branch comes from within the company.

From mid-April, Dorothea von Boksberg will take over Brussels Airlines. As the new Director, Ashwin Bhat will fill the void left at Lufthansa Cargo. Born in 1969, the Director has been a member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo since 2021 as Head of Product and Sales.

If the supervisory board approves, Bhatt will start on April 15. In his new position as CEO, he will continue to be responsible for products and sales.

Responsible for shipping in Switzerland

“I am very pleased that Ashwin Bhat, a very experienced manager, expert in logistics and freight with international experience, will take on this responsible task,” says Michael Nijman, Member of the Board of Directors of Lufthansa. “As a member of the Executive Board, he has contributed significantly to Lufthansa Cargo being able to record its most successful year in history.”

Bhatt studied chemistry at the University of Mumbai in India. He started his career with Indian Airlines Financial Support Services. In 1999 he joined what was then known as Swisscargo and held various management positions. Since 2015, Bhat has headed the Cargo Department of Swiss International Airlines.
