Virgin Voyages cancels 2024/2025 Australia/New Zealand season

Virgin Voyages cancels winter 2024/2025 in Australia and New Zealand due to Red Sea conditions

During the current 2023/2024 winter season, American cruise line Virgin Voyages celebrated its debut in the Australia and New Zealand trade area. The sequel was originally supposed to continue next winter, but the company has now canceled all related cruises. Virgin Voyages cites the current uncertain security situation in the Red Sea as the reason for extensive trip cancellations.

Resilient Lady will not sail from Europe to Australia and New Zealand in winter 2024/2025, but the ship will be used for voyages from the Caribbean to Puerto Rico.

The decision affects all Flexible Lady voyages after October 20, 2024 – after which the cruise ship will complete its last voyage on a regular schedule in the port of Piraeus, Greece. Stopovers to San Juan, Puerto Rico will follow. The ship is scheduled to operate seven- to eleven-day cruises in the Southern Caribbean.
More details on the newly launched Caribbean season will follow in the winter of 2024/2025.

Virgin Voyages has already responded to conditions in the Red Sea for cruises this spring. En route from Australia to New Zealand, the Resilient Lady will visit Mauritius and South Africa before crossing the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. Three positioning flights from Sydney to Piraeus via Singapore and Dubai were cancelled. In the autumn of 2024, Virgin Voyages has decided against a new strategy and fixed destinations from the Eastern Mediterranean to Australia.
