DrThe US soccer players began their mission to defend their FIFA Women’s World Cup title with a crushing victory. Kicking off Group E in Auckland, New Zealand, the top favorites cruised to a 3-0 (2-0) victory over tournament debutant Vietnam.
With her two goals, top scorer Sophia Smith (14/45 + 7 according to video evidence) made the record world champion cheer in front of 41,107 fans at Eden Park. The USA will meet the Netherlands in the 2019 World Cup Final replay on Thursday (03:00 CET).
