Marco Schwarz wins the World Cup slalom in the Madonna di Campiglio. The Austrian holds the lead in the overall standings once again. The best-ranked Swiss is Loïc Meillard in seventh place.

Like Daniel Jol, Millard was at least on course for a podium finish after the first round. As the second fastest driver, he was only 37 hundredths behind leader Clément Noel. Millard missed the opportunity. Down five places in the decision.

Things were worse for Yeul. Valaisian, a three-time winner of the Madonna di Campiglio and after the first round in fifth place, only half a second behind, with also good odds of another higher classification, slipped in the second round and was eliminated.

Luca Aerni, Ramon Zenhäuser, Tanguy Nef and Marc Rochat also earned World Cup points for the Swiss-Ski team. The quartet finished 13th, 17th, 19th and 23rd. Ernie gained nine places with the best time in the second round. Zenhäuser, the third best Swiss after half time in 11th place, dropped six places in the final classification.

Heavyweight Schwarz, who has raced in every race so far this winter, won ahead of Frenchman Clement Noel, who was leading after the first round, and Briton Dave Riding. Schwarz moved from sixth to the top and, thanks to his first win of the season, took the top spot in the World Cup general classification once again. He is now eight points ahead of Marco Odermatt.
