It was the most played demo at Steam Next Fest and will be released in Early Access on the distribution platform in just over a month. We’re talking about the cooperative survival RPG Enshrouded, which comes from development studio Keen Games in Frankfurt am Main and could be Germany’s next big gaming hope. After all, according to Steam, Enshrouded ranks seventh on the global wish list.
This is how the voxel-based game world is created
The developers recently released a new trailer for the World Builder that does what its name promises. In the trailer, a developer shows how he created the voxel-based game world using procedural tools and then fine-tuned it himself. According to Keen Games, the trailer shows how to focus on handcrafted items and layouts with a little help from procedural generation and randomness. Several algorithms have also been used.
The voxel engine should also give players themselves the opportunity to participate in designing the game world. This means that they must not only be able to move through Enshrouded, but they must also interact with the environment and redesign it according to their own desires. In the trailer, you can see specifically how the art director from Keen Games creates a point of interest and how it fits into the game.
suitable for: Starfield should last as long as Skyrim
Enshrouded will be released in Early Access on Steam on January 24. According to Keen Games, a full release as well as one for the console versions are “planned for the future.” In just over a month, players will be able to embark on a journey across the “vast” world of Embervale as the Flameborn, either alone or with up to 15 other people. There are, among other things, bosses to defeat and great halls to build.
