(AWP) Solar Technician Meyer Burger (MBTN 0.41 -0.68%) Announced the production site of its solar modules in the United States of America. Factory in Goodyear (GT 21.41 + 1.61%) in the US state of Arizona, the company announced on Monday.
Goodyear is located close to Phoenix, the capital of Arizona. The factory will be Meyer Burger’s first production facility outside Europe.
The initial annual production capacity will be 400 MW. Production is scheduled to start at the end of 2022 and it is tentatively expected to employ 250 people. Meyer Burger wants to manufacture solar modules for private roof systems, commercial and industrial roof systems, and on-site solar gardens.
Meyer Burger is the first tenant of a recently constructed new building, as it is called. The plant can be expanded up to 1.5 gigawatts. Then more than 500 people will be employed at the site.
Meyer Burger wants the location to be closer to its customers in the USA and to promote the transformation of energy supplies there. Additionally, sustainability must be improved through regional supply chains and shorter supply chains.
