It's no longer just work, school or university: there's now MS Teams for everyone

For the first time, MS Teams users can use one app for all accounts: the new client was included in the preview build in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26080. Microsoft had already announced this move in August 2023.

After updating, users can add additional access by clicking on their profile picture. Anyone who already uses the client at work, school and university can set up a private MS Teams account. However, anyone who has previously used the software for end users will have to switch to the other application – and Microsoft will discontinue this client in future releases.

However, both accesses can be used in parallel and can also be started separately, so users can use several windows at the same time for different accounts. When it comes to notifications – for example, when there are incoming calls – MS Teams indicates the associated account. When you access a meeting, you'll now be able to directly select the access you want to use. You should also soon be able to join a video conference from a client without having to log in to your account.

A preview will be available in April, with general global app availability scheduled to follow in May. The new client has already been announced at the end of 2023, as well as the new address book called People App. All the details about the new MS Teams application It can be found in the advertisement.
