Fans are absolutely smitten with the latest superhero movie – said to be one of the best Marvel movies of all time. Movie ticket revenues paint a different picture.

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3», Marvel concludes the trilogy about the group of space heroes led by Peter Quill (or Star-Lord). This movie focuses on the talking Rocket Raccoon, voiced by Bradley Cooper and a fan favorite since the series’ inception.

If you don’t want to know more about the plot, you can skip the next two sections and continue reading here:

There are a lot of bad guys in the galaxy big, wide – and that’s clear to all Marvel fans by now. But a higher evolutionary scientist, who is trying to create better people through animal experiments, is leading some.

His actions are particularly cruel and unscrupulous and paint a mirror on our society regarding animal testing. So far, what happened to Rocket as a cub has only been hinted at, and now viewers are learning the sad truth. The High Evolutionary being the boss of the Guardians makes sense too, since they’re getting revenge on one of their own, and Rocket can finally put his past to rest.

Fan feedback has been mostly positive so far (more on that below). It’s one of the best MCU movies, one writes. Others write about how much they cried during the movie.

Disappointing sales numbers

At first glance, movie ticket sales figures also look pretty good. The Marvel movie, which opened in theaters last Thursday, has grossed over $282 million worldwide and has already climbed to fourth place at the box office for the year. In the US, it grosses $114 million, well below the expected $120 million. The second installment grossed $146 million during its opening weekend (about $170 million at today’s box office prices). Here, too, the newer part is much lower.

Of the last nine Marvel movies released during the same period (spring/summer), the new Guardians of the Galaxy is the last in terms of opening weekend revenue – including inflation. The drop from last year’s movie (“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”) was significant – $73 million less than then, writes “IndieWire”. And this despite the fact that “Stranger” was a sequel to a less successful series than “Guardians.”

Fans are excited

on the rating platform.Rotten tomatoes“The audience reviews are very good. The movie has already got over 10,000 reviews, with a score of 95 percent. This enthusiasm is also spilling over into social media, where fans express their opinions in ecstasy:
