Topic: Mechanisms of inflammation: therapeutic concepts
Inflammatory reactions are protective reactions in the body that help us treat infections and injuries. They are stimulated by activation of the innate and adaptive immune systems. In so-called autoimmune diseases, chronic activation of the immune system occurs for unknown reasons. This leads to diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory bowel disease. The lecture describes how the immune system works and explains new concepts and perspectives for treatment.
