The fast-food provider moves to Kohlenberg, serving party-goers until 5 a.m. on weekends. More branches are planned in the Basel region.
Someone might have noticed the “opening soon” poster: a new fast food restaurant is moving to Kohlenberg 2, right on Barfüsserplatz. CTR Chitir Chicken will open its third branch in Basel in mid-September, BaZ Managing Director Erdal Korkmaz confirmed. In addition to burgers, wraps and kebab soup, the restaurant, already on Brombacherstrasse and Rebgasse, serves all kinds of Chitir chicken.
The bar is particularly popular with people between the ages of 15 and 20, Matthias F. revealed. Bohm, Managing Director of Stadtkonzept Basel, to BaZ. Korkmaz also confirms this: The concept mainly appeals to young people. One of the reasons they are now in the process of expanding their social media strategy – Tiktok in particular is the focus here.
With the new branch on Barfüsserplatz, they want to fill a gap, Korkmaz explains. “CTR Chitir Chicken has not yet been represented in Steinen.” Meanwhile, he is not afraid of stiff competition from other fast food providers in the region: “We are unique with our product range.”
Expansion in the planned Basel region
The location in Kohlenberg is also excellent. You can attract a large number of clients and tourists, as well as night owls on weekends. Here, too, one wants to focus on the needs of a younger target audience. Shitty Chicken is served until 5am from Friday to Sunday.
Since Thursday evenings are for the Basel students, as is well known, Phase One tries to keep the business open until the wee hours of the morning. During the week, the restaurant closes at midnight and would like to open at 11am.
But it shouldn’t stay with the third restaurant in Kohlenberg, because CTR Chitir Chicken is on an expansion path. Korkmaz is planning another branch in Ish, which is supposed to open in two months. He is also in talks for sites in Lestal and Sesach. Reinfelden is also an option.
