Capitol Storm Investigation – Trump Attacks Investigative Committee Face to Face – News

  • Former US President Donald Trump has strongly rejected the allegations of the inquiry into the storming of the US Capitol.
  • In a 12-page statement, Trump again claimed, without any evidence, that he did not get a second term due to voter fraud.
  • According to Trump, the commission is making the US judiciary “laugh”. It also accuses him of excluding defense witnesses.
  • Former members of the government and campaign advisers distanced themselves from his actions.

“The Democrats (…) are doing everything they can to stop me – but we can’t be stopped,” former President Donald Trump wrote in his 12-page statement. In it, the Republican accused the committee on Monday evening (local time) of “mocking” the American judiciary and excluding defense witnesses. He accuses his successor, Joe Biden, and the Democrats of destroying the United States.

Ex-AJ: Trump ‘lost contact with reality’

Previously, several former senior officials refuted Trump’s allegations of voter fraud at the investigation committee’s second plenary session on Monday. Former members of the government and campaign advisers distanced themselves from his actions. Former Attorney General William Barr and others called the fraud allegations “crazy”. Trump may have “increasingly lost touch with reality”.

To this day, the former president claims without evidence that he was denied victory in the 2020 presidential election through electoral fraud. Resistance to the election results culminated in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, which the Congressional Committee of Inquiry is now working on. For months, behind closed doors, the commission questioned hundreds of witnesses – including Trump’s daughter Ivanka – and examined vast amounts of documents and evidence. The commission is now revealing its findings in a series of public hearings.
