03/22/2023 | (rsn) – At the start of the Volta ao Alentejo (2.2), Team Bike Aid managed to finish in the top ten thanks to seventh place for Frenchman Leo Bouvier. But the Saarland team did not see happy faces after the 169 kilometer section.

“There was a mass crash with three kilometers to go. Jasper Bahlek was involved and is now in hospital, probably breaking his collar bone,” team boss Matthias Schnapka told radsport-news.com. Bouvier’s result was also “disappointing” because we had good chances in the race today,” said the team boss.

American Luke Lamberti won today in Oreki in front of Frenchman Cyril Barth (Burgos Bahrain) and his British colleague Max Walker. The best German was Vinzent Dorn in 30th, followed by Pirmin Eisenbarth (both Bike Aid) in 32nd.

In the overall standings, Lamberti has a lead of three seconds over Barth and six seconds ahead of Walker. Bouvier is the ninth best bike-assist rider, ten seconds behind.
