Wendy Holdner Injury Shock: The Swiss skateboarder injured her hands during fitness training and fell! The start of the World Cup season is over.
It’s a Swedish fund that would be Schwyzerin’s undo. When trying to jump on a machine, Holdener leans back and falls. The result: fractures of the boat bones in both hands. The good news: According to Swiss-Ski, the process is not necessary.
But the start of the season in Sölden (October 23-24) will take place without Holder. She must stop the planned training for a month, and only then will free skating become possible again. It remains to be seen if the 28-year-old will return at the start of the first slalom race of the season on November 20 in Levi, Finland.
“The two broken bones in the wrists on the wrists must be completely healed before racing is possible, as today’s technology, especially in slalom, exposes the wrist to significant forces,” says team physician Walter O. Frey.
The training injury brings back bad memories of last year. At the time, Holder also injured himself in the fall, and the few weeks of training had a good effect on the season. This time around, the three-time Olympic medalist from Pyoengchang (the gold medalist in the team event, silver in the slalom, bronze in the group) shouldn’t stop training on the ice for long — but she does have to put her skate away in poles because of her injured hands.
