Will there be new desktop models soon?

Apple recently added three new Mac models to its Find My Configuration file, according to a report by Nicolás Álvarez. While the exact models are not known, it is suspected that they may be desktop Mac models that do not need to be tracked like portable Macs.

Apple has recently switched from more specific model names to generic designations for “Mac,” which makes it difficult to identify new Mac models. Apple is expected to release new updates for Macs in the near future, with the Mac Pro being the main update for the desktop Mac.

New models included in the Find My Configuration file included They are Mac14.8, Mac14.13, and Mac14.14. They appear next to the identifiers for the latest M2 and M2 Pro Mac mini models. Since the list in the configuration file is for Disconnect Monitor bypasses, this suggests that they may be Mac desktop models that do not need to be tracked via Find My. It’s not clear which models are specific, as Apple recently switched from more specific model names to generic designations for “Mac,” which could apply to any member of the Mac family. It is also unclear whether these new designations represent three variants of one product or two variants of one product and one variant of another product.

WWDC 2023: Macs desktop should not be part of the keynote

Apple is expected to release new updates for Mac soon. The Mac Pro is the most important update to the Mac desktop, but it’s not expected to be presented at WWDC in June. Mac Studio is unlikely to be updated until high-end models in the M3 chipset family are ready, which isn’t likely to happen until early 2024. The iMac is the only other desktop update option for the Mac, with an update expected in the second half of the year at earliest estimate. Although it’s unclear which specific models are involved, there are indications that Apple may soon introduce new Mac desktop models. However, June’s WWDC likely won’t include the Mac desktop update.
