After somewhat mediocre final test matches before the European Championship finals in the summer, the Swiss national team has already become a topic of discussion again in the long weekend after the international break. SFV completes the kit for the European Championships in Germany with an unusual third alternative.

Under the slogan “A tribute to Swiss culture”, the shirt is strongly reminiscent of the famous garment worn by Swiss skaters in the 1990s. From 1992 to 1998, Frene Schneider, Paul Acula, Franz Heinzer and their partners skied using the world-famous Emmentaler slots on their ski suits. Now footballers must revive cheese in the sport.

No jersey may be used at all

For the home and away shirts, SFV was limited to the classic color variants (red and white) and thus received mostly positive feedback. Opinions may differ now when it comes to the yellow jersey.

But be careful: anyone who is already bothered by the unusual design may do so prematurely. The chances of the national team wearing the alternate third jersey are very slim. In the group stage, you can easily play in red or white against Germany (white/pink/blue) as well as against Hungary (red/white) and Scotland (blue/turquoise).

Even if they qualify for the knockout stage, the chances of using the cheese dress remain slim. There is only one team, Croatia, that plays in the red and white color combination. Even Modric and his teammates may resort to wearing the reserve blue shirt if necessary.
