Alexei Navalny has not shown any sign of life for days
Navalny is in a concentration camp in the city of Kovrov in the Vladimir region. There has been no news from Putin’s opponent from there for some time.
Jailed Kremlin opposition figure Alexei Navalny says there is still no sign of life from the 47-year-old, who is in poor health. Kira Garmisch, Navalny’s spokeswoman, told the German news agency on Saturday that there was no news yet. The lawyer of President Vladimir Putin’s opponent has been trying to contact him in the concentration camp for five days. However, the lawyer was not allowed to see him. Navalny’s team sounded the alarm on Friday after not communicating with the opposition figure via video as usual during court hearings.
Prison staff had explained that the video link had failed due to a power outage, Navalny’s team announced. Garmysh said on the X news service (formerly Twitter) that concerns about Navalny are particularly great because he fell ill in his cell last week. Letters to or from Navalny have not been delivered for a week.
Navalny is in a concentration camp in the city of Kovrov in the Vladimir region, about 260 kilometers east of Moscow. He was sentenced to 19 years in prison in a camp, and is internationally classified as a political prisoner.
