Double back on the Thames: A day after the world champion led by captain Dennis Schröder, German basketball players will also compete against the United States in London as part of their preparations for the Olympics.

The German Basketball Federation (DBB) announced on Thursday that the women will play against the reigning world champion and Olympic champion on July 23 at the O2 Arena. The men challenge the NBA stars 24 hours earlier at the same venue.
“We look forward to competing against the USA before the Olympics. Our team has made rapid progress over the past year. Competing against the best team in the world is another important step in our development,” said the Canadian. Coach Lisa Thomaitis.
The DBB women around WNBA star Satou Sabally (Dallas Wings) have qualified for the Summer Games for the first time and will face the USA again in the Olympic preliminary round in Lille. The other opponents in Group C are Japan and Belgium.

Germany is still winless against USA. Since the first game in Heidelberg in 1965, the women have suffered a total of seven defeats. It will be the first fight in Great Britain since 1997.
