According to a press report, Elon Musk is planning to cancel a Twitter post. The Washington Post wrote Thursday (local time) that he made it clear to potential investors that he would reduce the number of employees in the event of an acquisition from 7,500 to about 2,000.
The newspaper relies on insiders and classified documents. Musk and Twitter did not initially comment.
After months of back and forth, Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter is expected to be completed by the end of next week — if problems do not flare up again. The judge in charge imposed a deadline: if the purchase was not completed by October 28, there would still be a lawsuit.
The Tesla boss already approved the takeover with Twitter in April. However, in July he declared the agreement invalid due to false allegations regarding fake accounts. Twitter sued to comply with the purchase agreement. At the beginning of October, Musk surprisingly renewed his bid.
However, he did set a condition that the lawsuit surrounding the acquisition would be settled – which his chances were considered relatively slim. Twitter rejected this. The company is shady, as Musk makes his bid dependent on funding and may still keep the back door open.
