Rhine Falls Festival 2023 in Schaffhausen: There’s also a prince coming!

In its 20th year, the House of Toniolo has appointed special guests for this year’s Rhine Falls Festival: To kick off the festival, Prinzen singer Sebastian Krumbiegel will come to the Rhine, organizers say in the press announcement. With hits like “Forbidden Kisses” and “Everything’s Just Stolen,” Crombiegel and his bandmates made a cappella singing socially acceptable again in the 1980s. They have now been on the road for over 30 years and shortly before the tour began, a representative of the Princes stopped by the Rhine.

He will be active three times: at the beginning of the festival on Saturday 9 September at 7pm with a concert in Schaffhausen, and the next day on Sunday 10 September from 12.30pm as an author on the Literature Boat, where he will speak from his book Showing Courage: Why Life with an Attitude is Good “. And finally on Sunday evening at 7pm an evening of conversation and music at the Rhyschüür of the Schupfen Inn in Diessenhofen.

The Rhine Falls have been an inspiration for centuries

In 2003, the idea of the Rhine Falls Festival in Neuhausen was born. “In the case of the Festival of Word and Image, the Nature Festival was created that integrated art and culture into the five categories for all generations,” says Beate Toniolo, owner of the initiative, describing the approach that was prevalent at the time, and which is still valid today. The Rhine Falls, a place of power, has inspired many artists over the centuries, so the aim was to make it possible to experience it creatively here and now. Meanwhile, the Rhine Falls are no longer enough – the sites used for the festival range from Stein am Rhein to Neuhausen.

The main focus will still be the Folk Literature Boats, which were first launched 20 years ago. The festival begins this season with a literary boat for families. Actress Esther Gemsch and Schaffhausen percussionist Bernie Roach bring to life the story of the legendary Rhine creature Quamelius in the Boat of Literature on the Rhine. In addition to singer Prinzen Crombiegel, brain researchers Felix Hassler, Meral Corisihe and Anaïs Meyer will also read on the Literature Boats this season.
