The “Daily Star” website celebrated the victory of the lettuce chief over the resigned prime minister.
“Can Liz Truss last longer than this salad?” The British newspaper “Daily Star” asked this question last Friday and set up a live broadcast on YouTube, in which a picture of the Prime Minister can be seen next to a head of lettuce with glued eyes.
The Economist recently confirmed that Truss has the life span of power in light of the rapidly developing government crisis.
Now it’s clear: Head Lettuce won – Truss announced her resignation after 44 days. Countless users celebrated the joke on Twitter. After the resignation, the tabloid’s live stream had several thousand viewers celebrating the lettuce win in the comments.
blonde wig and “face”
Meanwhile, a picture of Truss was placed face down on the table, colored lights rotated around it and songs like “God Save the King” or “Celebration” were repeated over and over. Head Lettuce wears a blonde wig and has eyes that stick out by the creators.
In the comments on YouTube, one user wrote: “I wanted to be a part of this huge moment.” And on Twitter there is derision and hatred for the chaos in Great Britain. Many are now calling for Chief Lettuce to be appointed as the new prime minister.
The latest cogs of havoc in the financial markets
Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s 47-year-old successor has come under tremendous pressure after her economic policies wreaked unprecedented havoc on the financial markets in just a few days. Truss had to take on a 180-degree political role and lost two of her key ministers, Kwasi Kwarting as finance minister and Soyla Braverman as interior minister, within a week.
About 24 hours before her resignation, she protested in the British House of Commons that she did not want to surrender and was a “fighter”. Although she noted the difficult economic times and political instability across the continent, she also admitted that she can no longer implement her vision of radical economic growth in the current circumstances.
