Karl-Feldshutz-Platz in Freudenberg
Citizens should also have a say in the design

The Karl-Wildschütz-Platz in Fröndenberg’s city center has remained undisturbed for many years. Politicians have repeatedly made proposals for use, for example through residential development.
Now the future of the arena will be decided in an ideas competition. A jury made up of members of management and policy and external architects or urban planners will then vote on the proposals submitted at a non-public meeting.
This trend raised a lot of criticism at the last meeting of the main committee, especially due to the lack of citizen participation. Now the administration has submitted a proposal for public participation in the design of the arena.
Make suggestions then
Accordingly, there will be a post-competition workshop where the audience can discuss their award-winning concept with the award winner. Citizens’ suggestions should be able to be integrated into the urban planning framework plan.
From a management point of view, participation during the competition process is not recommended. In addition, the city of Freudenberg notes in its draft resolution that there have already been some opportunities for public participation since 2015.
The council is scheduled to vote on the city’s proposal on Wednesday, November 8.
