At the European Team Championships, Belgium shot putter in the 100m hurdles. This was rewarded with two points.
Putt putter Julien Bomko sparked action at the European Team Championships in Chorzow, Poland, with a desperate ride to the steeplechase. The Belgian ended up in last place over 100 meters in 32.81 seconds by a long margin, but she earned two points for her team.
Anne Zagrey was supposed to start in Belgium. The former U20 European champion had to sit out with an injury. With no alternative available, Bomko spontaneously jumped and leisurely climbed the hurdles – and the fans celebrated.
My team is the most important thing to me.
“My team is the most important thing to me,” said the 29-year-old. “I can’t let go of a single point. There was no danger for me if I took it easy.”
Bomko, also Belgian hammer throw champion, finished seventh in the shot put on Friday.
