From New York to Havecoast: A Bird Show Itinerary

Havecost. On Friday morning he arrived in Havekoast with his horses: Rene Detmer, 30, a Nations Cup rider from Stade who had just returned from the United States. He booked pits and entered entries at the Havekoster Jumping Festival near New York. jet lag? Probably not, because the time difference between Havekost in East Holstein and the northeastern US state is six hours and the temperatures aren’t that different either.

As the show jumper completed a few hours of flying, his horses were refreshed and relaxed. Not only did Farrero, Donald and Don’t Stop Believin go on vacation while the President was on tour in the USA, but they also took a break from the tournaments. Rene Dittmer answers the question about how the travel route between New York and Havecoast looks so practical: “I was here two years ago and I really liked it – good places, good conditions and a very nice tournament. That’s why I wanted to come back now.”

There are still two horses left in the United States

While Ferrero and his Hanover stablemate Havekost are supposed to return for the championship season, Burlington Riverland and Corsica – the mare with whom Detmer won the championship at Hove Waterkant – can relax with American show jumper Mario Deslauriers. Detmer distributed both horses there.

“We are currently running a few tests to see if this could work – part of the year in the USA, part of the year in Germany.” We – this is Detmer himself and his partner, American show jumper Chloe Reed. They are both internationally successful and met at the stable of Markus Bierbaum and Meredith Michaels Bierbaum in Thedinghausen. I trained there and worked as a rider in the stable.

The Jumping Festival in Havekoast now allows for a proper return to Germany as well as a meeting with a number of colleagues. For example with Jan Mewis from Mahalbek, who won the two-leg S-class showjumping race with his Holsteiner Dynasty D on Saturday.

The mare is clearly in good condition, was as fast as ever, and just seven days ago had given her rider a bronze medal at the State Show Jumping Championships in Bad Segeber. In the same competition, Detmer, who was first nominated by national team coach Otto Becker a few years ago, finished 11th with Ferrero. There is – as we know from both – certainly more. Maybe on Sunday, at the Havekost Grand Prix from 4pm.
