Seven years after the Brexit vote, three-quarters of Britons have lost faith in their politicians. That’s according to a poll for London think tank UK on a Changing Europe, published today to mark the anniversary of the referendum.
75 per cent of respondents said: “I have lost faith in British politicians in recent years.” 74 percent believe that politicians act in their own interests rather than the interests of the general public.
In a referendum on June 23, 2016, Britain voted 52 to 48 percent to leave the European Union. It was completed on January 31, 2020.
The poll shows that 52 percent now believe that Brexit will not succeed. Only one in ten sees it differently. Nevertheless, we cannot talk about the new “bregret” about Brexit and regret (regret): among those who voted for Brexit, only 15 percent regret it.
Almost half of those surveyed (48 percent) will vote to return to the EU in today’s referendum. Only a third (32 percent) would favor staying abroad. A majority of people in the UK (54 per cent) do not want to hear more about Brexit.
