Pumuckel from Sauerland
Probably the smallest horse in the world
Lives in Sauerland, a tiny Shetland pony named Pumuckel is probably the smallest horse in the world and still does great things.

Trainer Carola Weidmann of Breckerfeld in Sauerland told dpa that the three-year-old, who is only 50 centimeters at the shoulder, had trained her to be a therapy horse. Pumuckel is a treasured little horse and makes many children and the elderly happy.
An acquaintance does not want the little guy after his birth. He took over as a pony three years ago, as the longtime coach explained from Weidemann’s riding stables. “When I saw him for the first time, I was shocked. I had never seen such a small horse.”
Pumuckel has been going to nursing homes or day care centers for about a year now. “He’s trained to accompany people in a wheelchair and walkers and can get into the car through a ramp.” Residents of nursing homes are “totally over the moon” when their little pony comes to visit.
At daycares, boys and girls are brought closer to the animal world with the help of Pumuckel. For treatment purposes, children from the age of three can comb the horse in the yard or take it for a walk. “He’s the star with the kids.”
Dwarfism is caused by a genetic defect. “It’s not a disease, but a whim of nature,” Weidmann explained. Typically, Shetland ponies grow to about twice the size of a Pumuckel. Bild.de also reported the animal.
A riding teacher from Märkisch wants her XS to be entered into the Guinness Book of World Records. I’ve already started on it. “But this is only possible when he is four years old,” I was told. Then the horses are considered full grown. Weidmann is sure that the Pumuckel horse is the smallest horse in the world: to date there is a horse in the Guinness Book with a shoulder height of at least 56.7 cm. So your treated animal is much smaller.
